OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Christ the King Catholic Primary School is a Voluntary Academy in the St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust. Religious Education lies at the heart of everything that we do and we follow ‘The Way, The Truth, The Life’ scheme as recommended by the Diocese of Leeds. You can find out more about this here.
We have a very active spiritual life in school. Prayer is an important part of everyday life in the classroom and Collective Acts of Worship for the whole school take place on Mondays and Fridays as well as for Key Stages once a week. We are fortunate that our Parish Church is just across the road and we attend Mass there on many occasions during the year. Special services are held during Advent and Lent to prepare for the feasts of Christmas and Easter and we celebrate May as the Month of Mary.
Parents are warmly welcomed to join us at our whole school assemblies and at Mass. Dates and times are on our website.
Each family receives a weekly copy of ‘The Wednesday Word’, which suggests a ‘word’, inspired by the coming Sunday’s Gospel, for families to talk about at home as they enjoy five minutes time together.
We demonstrate our faith in action through our Mini Vinnies group and our membership of the Cafod ‘Live Simply’ Award Scheme.
Catechists from the parish prepare children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Our Mission Statement
We believe that everyone is special and unique, created in God’s image.
We strive to bring everyone in our school family closer to the heart of Jesus
so that they can achieve their full potential.
Through teaching, learning and personal reflection, we will encourage our
school family to respect, support and co-operate with one another each and every day.
“To live, to love, to serve in the light of Christ the King.’’
